Baby It’s Warm Outside by Katherine Smythe
Here at INFKNIT we reaaallllly love the holidays. We live for baking cookies, arguing over what movies to watch with our siblings, and finding the PERFECT gift for that special someone who is increasingly difficult to shop for (cough cough, Dad). The one thing we don’t love about the holidays? Waste. We love getting gifts, we love giving gifts, but we don’t love fast fashion and unsustainable practices that account for many of the gifts that people buy.
This holiday season we’ve put together a list of our favorite sustainable companies and products so we can spread the holiday cheer without the global warming fear.
Sustainable Slippers: Baabuk
For the beauty lovers: What’s better than giving the gift of soft skin? BITCHSTIX is a self-care brand that sells ethical and effective lip and body balms. From their support of assault and abuse survivors to their commitment to using safe, eco-friendly ingredients that do no harm to our environment, BITCHSTIX is committed to making a net-positive impact on the world.
For the beach bums: COVID might be keeping us from the beach, but who says you can’t help with beach clean-up from the comfort of your own home? For Ocean is a global cleanup operation that has helped recover 11,757,937 lbs of trash since 2017, each product they sell helps remove one pound of trash from the ocean, rivers, or coastlines. Their bracelets cords and beads are even made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic and glass bottles.
Klean Kanteen: Tumbler Kit
For the go-getters: Don’t let a busy schedule keep you from staying hydrated. From insulated water bottles to steel pint glasses for your favorite brew, Klean Kanteen has every type of hydration product you need. What makes buying a water bottle even better? Klean Kanteen is 100% carbon neutral in the manufacturing and delivery of their products worldwide.
INFKNIT Reworked: Juicy Jackets
For the thrift shopping sweethearts: We love the Four Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rihanna. Our favorite way to recycle has to be thrift shopping. We launched INFKNIT Reworked as a way to recycle and resell gently used high-end goods. We love these Juicy Couture Zip Up Jackets, and we think that you’ll love them too.
For the eco-friendly fashionista: What’s more fashionable than sustainable jewelry? Soko is a women-led, people-first ethical jewelry brand and tech-powered manufacturing platform built to connect artisans in Kenya with the global market. Their online selection is vast, and you can even personalize some of their products for that extra special someone.
Small Gifts Handmade in Brooklyn
For the low waste lover: Everyone can make their routine a little greener. Lovewild Design makes handcrafted, sustainable gifts from their family and women-run studio in Brooklyn, New York. They have everything from beeswax sandwich wraps to biodegradable floss. While you’re on their website check out their hand-printed greeting cards that are embedded with seeds, they’re sustainably made and will grow wildflowers when nestled in soil.
Candle: Parks Project
For the person you love the most: Okay okay we might be a little biased here, but nothing says Happy Holidays like an INFKNIT Back2Back and a matching Beanie. Our Back2Back is the perfect layer for cold weather outings, and the neutral colors of our Beanie go with any winter coat. INFKNIT is passionate about using sustainable materials, ranging from the fabric used to compose our products to content tags to packaging. Every aspect of our products are carefully sourced from companies that embody sustainability and transparency characteristics.
If we could give all of our customers a gift this holiday season, it would undoubtedly be from the list above. Though the companies and products on this list are our favorites, there are a number of great sustainable companies out there just waiting to be discovered. This holiday season we urge you to try something new, swap out those plastic water bottles for a reusable one, and shop sustainably.
